Sony PlayStation Move Commerical – A Self-Inflicted Wound

In Videogames on March 17, 2010 at 9:41 PM

PlayStation Move just received its official name and release date, so it was just a matter of time before it got its first commercial too.  Continuing the string of “Kevin Butler, VP of Everything” ads Sony’s been spamming the last year, the PlayStation Move spot pokes some serious jabs at the console market, particularly two not-so subtle ones directed at Nintendo’ Wii and Microsoft’s Natal.  However, the clincher flies under the radar. Heavy Rain Review

In Videogames on March 8, 2010 at 11:18 PM

I posted a previous article about Heavy Rain that some construed as a review of the game.  While it could be considered a review, it was more a critique of David Cage and the way Heavy Rain has been marketed and reviewed.  Since it seemed like I had nothing good to say about Heavy Rain, I felt I’d publish an actual full review of the game outlining what I felt worked and didn’t. In Videogames on March 4, 2010 at 7:21 PM

Dear Mr. Cage,

Your latest piece of interactive drama left a sour taste in my mouth.  Maybe the months of hype dating back to 2009’s E3 conference started it.  Maybe the slew of great reviews built it up to something it couldn’t be.  Maybe all your boasting and self-praise left me jaded.  But I finally realize what I should have all along – Heavy Rain is a video game.  Nothing more, nothing less.  And as such, it’s an utter disappointment.
